- Spirals
|
I chose spirals because I think it will be a interesting project to do. Also there is quite a few things you can experiment with and I can do this physically and on the laptop using photoshop. The slideshow on the left is to help me though I'm not going to do just this , I want to experiment and try different things. I could create spirals in a natural environment and photograph and scan the final piece or , record movement of light with finger lights and create a spiral in that.

I went into the broadcasting room to complete these light paintings , the camera was on manual and set to 20 seconds. We turn't the light off and then pressed the camera and had to do our lights for 20 seconds. I put finger lights on a stick and spun around to create these pictures.

Research : Andy Goldsworthy
Andy is a British sculptor , photographer and environmental producing site-specific sculpture and land arts situated in natural and urban settings. Also he works in scotland , that is his community. Photography is a crucial role in Andy's life and his art is often ephemeral and transient state. Andy likes to collaborate with nature to do his art like anything that comes into his hands eg. twigs , leaves , snow , ice , stones and thorns. Some of his own words : "I enjoy the freedom of just using my hands and "found" tools -- a sharp stone , the quill of a feather." "Looking , touching , material , place and form are all inseparable from the resulting work". Most of his work is supposed to be temporary , once he photographs his work he leaves it to decay at its own rate. Andy has won several awards for his work including : the Yorkshire Arts Award and the Scottish Arts Council Award.

I used photoshop to create these photos , I used the elliptical marquee tool to create the circle shape. I then turn't the circle bit to make the shape look a bit like a spiral. My teacher teached me how to do this on photoshop. It is a quiet simple process once you get used to it. You just have to copy and paste the circle shape and then turn the circle shape.
I used an app called 'hipstamatic' to create these photos , I put it on a double exposure so 2 picture I took combined together. I used only a black and white filter however I could take more and use a coloured filter and compare the difference. I think this was a successful idea as the pictures come out how I wanted them too. As you can see some of the pictures are not double exposed as I forgot to select it , but I think these are just as successful as the double exposed photographs.
